Abstract

Advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in online media present a duality between opportunities for creative efficiency and the risk of blurring reality through cloned content (voices, faces, and animations). The public, particularly at the family level, often becomes passive consumers who are vulnerable to digital information manipulation. The objective of this activity is to build critical awareness and technical skills among PKK cadres in Gedawang Subdistrict as pioneers of digital literacy within their communities. This training uses a face-to-face communication method with an interactive, emic-based approach, which involves exploring real-world problems faced by participants in the field to find solutions through AI technology. The outcome of this community service initiative is expected to enhance the independence of PKK cadres in producing positive, wholesome, creative, and educational content, while also fostering their critical thinking skills regarding the authenticity of information in the digital age. Through this empowerment, PKK cadres will serve as role models in minimizing the socioeconomic risks resulting from the misuse of AI technology in the future. This initiative has limitations in terms of duration and hardware infrastructure. However, the participants’ enthusiasm for adopting AI technology for productive purposes—such as promoting local MSMEs—demonstrates that technology-based empowerment is very much feasible at the micro level. For future community service teams, it is highly recommended to establish a permanent communication platform, such as a digital consultation group or a social media-based learning community. The existence of such channels serves as a medium for long-term monitoring and evaluation to ensure the sustainability of the program’s impact.
