Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen members’ competencies in writing popular scientific essays within the Satupena Central Java Community by producing an anthology as an inclusive educational medium. Amid the literacy challenges of the information era, partners face limited funding and a lack of in-depth mentoring, despite strong potential among members drawn from lecturers, students, and the general public. A comprehensive approach integrates the proven principle of learning by doing, which effectively enhances writing skills through hands-on practice and intensive guidance. The stages include situation analysis, problem identification, intensive training, and the production of an ISBN-registered anthology published online. Expected outputs include the anthology, improved literacy, and the emergence of social change agents in regional planning. This program not only addresses Satupena’s obstacles but also democratizes knowledge for the wider community, consistent with the learning-by-doing paradigm that emphasizes active participant engagement in the learning process.
