Penerapan sanitasi air bersih dan pemanfaatan kolam ikan di SDN Siwalan Semarang sebagai upaya pencegahan DBD

Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) merupakan penyakit menular yang masih menjadi permasalahan kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia akibat infeksi virus dengue yang ditularkan oleh nyamuk Aedes aegypti dan Aedes albopictus. Rendahnya kesadaran terhadap kebersihan lingkungan dan sanitasi air menjadi faktor utama tingginya kasus DBD. Program ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan strategi pengendalian DBD berbasis ekosistem dengan mengintegrasikan sanitasi air bersih dan pemanfaatan kolam ikan nila merah (Oreochromis niloticus) sebagai metode alami dalam menghambat pertumbuhan jentik nyamuk. Program dilaksanakan di SDN Siwalan Semarang dengan beberapa tahapan, yaitu sosialisasi sanitasi air bersih, observasi dan pembersihan area yang berpotensi menjadi sarang nyamuk, serta pembuatan dan pemanfaatan kolam ikan nila merah sebagai pengendali biologis jentik nyamuk. Hasil menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kesadaran siswa dan guru dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan serta penurunan jumlah jentik nyamuk setelah program diterapkan. Selain itu, kolam ikan juga menjadi sarana edukatif dalam memahami ekosistem perairan. Keberhasilan program ini membuktikan bahwa pendekatan berbasis ekosistem dapat menjadi solusi efektif, berkelanjutan, dan ramah lingkungan dalam pengendalian DBD. Dengan partisipasi aktif warga sekolah, SDN Siwalan dapat menjadi contoh dalam menerapkan strategi pencegahan DBD berbasis lingkungan.
Dengue fever is an infectious disease that is still a public health problem in Indonesia due to dengue virus infection transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. Low awareness of environmental hygiene and water sanitation is a major factor in the high number of DHF cases. This program aims to implement an ecosystem-based dengue control strategy by integrating clean water sanitation and the use of red tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) ponds as a natural method in inhibiting the growth of mosquito larvae. The program was implemented at SDN Siwalan Semarang with several stages, namely socialization of clean water sanitation, observation and cleaning of areas that have the potential to become mosquito nests, as well as the construction and utilization of red tilapia ponds as biological control of mosquito larvae. The results showed an increase in student and teacher awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness and a decrease in the number of mosquito larvae after the program was implemented. In addition, the fish pond also became an educational tool in understanding aquatic ecosystems. The success of this program proves that an ecosystem-based approach can be an effective, sustainable and environmentally friendly solution to dengue control. With the active participation of the school community, SDN Siwalan can be an example in implementing an environmentally-based dengue prevention strategy.
